Still doing exactly the same unfortunately. As well as uninstalling and reinstalling the gamlj module, I also tried apt purge'ing jamovi and removing the .jamovi directory before reinstalling everything and the same results occur.

It is. Through the menus. '+ Modules' -> 'Available' etc

I have installed jamovi 0.8.6.1 on ubuntu 17.10 using the repository. I then install the gamlj module.
