So can it be said that the AUC tells us about a difference between 2 distributions, and the p value tells us how certain we are that this difference is not due to chance (regardless of its size) ? We could also say so, but for the AUC I would prefer to keep the term of separation rather than differ...

Which brings me to a theoretical question, if on the real data the logistic regression is non significant (p>0.05), and the Mann Whitney is significant (or the other way around), can that ever happen ?
