Describing underlying values in categorical variables

Post by tkemeny »

Hi,

I have a dataset in which I want to do basic descriptive stats on a categorical variable. The variable has labels but, of course, beneath those are actual values. While the values are not substantively meaningful, I want to be able to easily see them. One example might be to know that missing values are coded as negative numbers etc.

When I get descriptives in Jamovi though, either I get a table of summary stats for the underlying numbers or a frequency table of the labels.

Is there a way to get something like a frequency table that shows the underlying values?

Thanks
Tom
