multiple mediation analysis

Post by statisticallysig »

hi,

i am wondering that when i am conducting multiple mediation analysis with multiple mediators, should i do it separately? for example if i am investigating whether the relationship between a and b is mediated by x and y, should i do the analysis
1) the relationship between a and b with the mediation of x
2) the relationship between a and b with the mediation of y

or can i do this analysis together on jamovi with the medmod module using the bootsrapping method?

thank you in advance for your help.

Yes, you can do that with one single model in jAMM. Actually, it is better to run one model with all the mediators in it rather than two separated models, because the two mediators may be correlated and "steal each other effect". In jAMM, simple put x and y in the "mediators" field and the module will automatically run a "parallel mediators" model, which is the one you need.

In this scenario, could you use a dichotomous mediator and a continuous mediator?
How would you set this up in jAMM?
