Computed variables not showing?

Post by Bellsie »

Hello,

I wonder if one of you kind souls could help me? I'm new to Jamovi.

I have been calculating composite scores and sometimes they show up and sometimes they don't? There is no red error message so the formula is right (ex: SUM=('variable1', 'variable 2')) and it works for other variables...

I press return and get a blank column. Any ideas?

Thank you in advance,
Bellsie

hi bellsie,

perhaps one of the columns is a text column?

if that's not the issue, attach a .omv file

cheers

Thank you so much!

I have managed to calculate it ffor MOCI and SCOFF but AUDIT an PCL aren't working.

Please ignore the boring bits at the beginning, the interesting stuff is at the end!

Thank you again,
Bellsie

Hi, in short it is because the 'else use' of the transform is set to $source meaning that the resultant column contains a string when a condition is not met, making it a text column. This means that the SUM function returns blank.

Hello!

It's me again with the same problem and I can't remember how to solve it...

I'm trying to calculate a sum but it doesn't appear; the first two variables work but then when I add a third previous sums disappear.

The variable is TRAUMAWORKTOTAL

what values are you trying to sum here?

the data file is helpful, but can you describe the steps you're performing, and the expected behaviour?

with thanks

Thank you for your help.

I'm looking to sum a bunch of variables (e.g. INON7, TT7, TDT7) to create a total score. This score will then be used to look at correlations.

I noticed that some of the variables i was adding were nominal. iI've switched thelm to continuous but still get a blank column when I add them all together. (TRAUMAWORKTOTAL)

Thank you so much for your help!
