[RESOLVED] Crash in computers classroom

Post by CSC »

Hi,

I have installed the latest jamovi in the classroom. However, no client computers (boot from remote HD) could open the jamovi.
Below link is the log of Process Monitor I got from a computer. Wish this help fix the bug.

hi sau-chin,

i notice the provided log file is from jamovi 0.8.1.13. i introduced some changes to unicode handling in jamovi 0.8.1.15, which may have fixed this issue.

could you try the latest version of jamovi and see if that fixes it?

with thanks

thanks sau-chin,

could you try starting the jamovi debug terminal (should be available from the start menu), and then enter into the terminal

jamovi --debug

that *may* produce an error message. if it doesn't, could you try running it again with:

jamovi --py-debug

also, could you describe the 'crash' a bit more? perhaps send us a screenshot of what happens?

thanks for your help.

Hi Jonathon,

The clip of the crashed jamovi was saved in https://osf.io/8q7p5/. The debug log was in https://osf.io/xrg4k/.

Hi Jonathon,

It said "Electron was shut down". The following message means "Due to some problems, this program is crashed. Windows will close this program."

This is what I got when I opened jamovi in these computers.

*groan* ... that looks like an electron crash, which is largely outside of our control :/

we'll try a newer version of electron in the next release. i'll keep you posted.

OK, we've updated electron in the latest 0.8.4 release.

could you see if it fixes the issue?
