dendrogram in hierarchical cluster analysis (SnowCluster)

Post by RMD »

Hello,

I've done a HCA dendrogram with binary data (coded 1,2) that is also sparse (Canberra distance and average clustering seems to work the best).

I wanted to put my own labels into the dendrogram but when I enter a variable as a label, there is an error message ('elements of k must be between 1 and 9').

Does someone know why this happens?

Also, I don't understand what the numbers in the dendrogram are - are they just row numbers? And the cluster numbers - are they just counted top to bottom?

Here is the file: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Ak18NDjxZnZrgeAOn6k ... Q?e=CwKwCg

The label variable I wanted to use is 'RP'.

Many thanks,
Russell

Hi Russell

If you remove variable from Label box, It will be working.
Here is a file that is working

Hi Russell

I know what the problem is. If you put the variable into Labels box, the cluster numbers are not appeared in the datasheet. Hmm. . . Let me ask @MAgojam about that.

Thanks Soel,
I was hoping to use the label variable to identify which cases belong to which cluster.

Hi Russell

As shown above the file that is working, the cluster number displays with each row number. And also, the numbers in the dendrogram are the just row numbers in the datasheet.

you can check it by setting "Number of clusters" as 2 or 3.

Hi Seol!
That great to know, thanks. I still don't know if it's possible to enter my own labels using the label function, but it certainly helps to know that the numbers on the dendrogram correspond to rows.
Many thanks!
