Jamovi free Cloud for a college class?

Post by ReadVanderbilt »

Hi,

Will the free Guest plan be good enough for students using Jamovi in a fall semester intro stat class to do classwork and take tests? Or will they likely need to subscribe to the Priority plan? In this intro stat class the data sets will be small enough for the guest plan but I'm not sure if cloud availability will be good enough. During a class or test students may need to log in multiple times because the time limit runs out or there is an idle timeout. Particular questions:

1) When they log back in will they be able to dependably get access?

2) Smaller issue: Will they have to re upload any data sets they're working with?

3) Is there anything else I should know?

Thanks everyone!

Hi Read,

The free guest plan isn't always available, because the number of people using it varies over time, and there's a limit to the number of free users we can host.

So I think you want either the priority or team plan. (at time of writing) The only difference is that the team plan allows you to pay for all the users at once (oh, and we offer discounts for larger numbers).

(at time of writing) jamovi does not persist data sets that students upload. i.e. to save them, they'll need to save them back to their device, or to microsoft one drive. the next time they want to work on them, they can them open them from that location.

if you navigate to cloud.jamovi.org, you'll find a place where you can request a quote for a 'team subscription'

Kind regards

Jonathon
