Survival analysis With Death watch

Post by mhanu »

Hello there, Thanks for this fantastic software.
I have a question regarding the Death watch module and Kaplan Meier curves.
i see that the module needs three imput paramenters:

1 Event; 2 Time elapsed (for the event to occur); 3 Groups.

I have a series of patients and i know for each of them the time of death. my data look like this:

Patient 1 ------------- GROUP A ------------- 19
Patient 2 ------------- GROUP B -- -----------54
Patient 3 ------------- GROUP A ------------- 32
Patient 4 ------------- GROUP B ------------- 27
Patient 5 ------------- GROUP A ------------- 30

I added a third column called "event" where i have put all "1" and set the event to "1" because at that time the event occurred.

two curves are plot but i am not sure that this is the right way to input data in order to have a proper kaplan meier.

Thanks

looks right to me. normally with a survival analysis, you have a mixture of patients that have expired, and patients that haven't yet. if all your patients have expired, then it will be 1 in the event column.

cheers
