The Import feature is great and I get why it is called Import. However, in similar software, Import typically means "open a file that is in another format".
Consequently, I keep seeing students use Import when trying to open an SPSS file, for example. They don't seem to pick up on the distinction even though Import leaves the 3 default variables.
In my vocabulary, Import is actually "Append", "Add Cases", or "Add Observations". It could instead be as a button on the Data tab. Or, perhaps there could be some text explaining it, or an option to either replace or add data.
Since it keeps happening, I thought I'd let you know in case it could be clarified.
Thanks! It's nice to have Jamovi an an option especially now as students lose access to on-campus software.
"Import" is confusing

Re: "Import" is confusing
I second this. I get confused by "Import" also.
I have never seen "Import" mean anything else in software apart from "load using a different format".
I like "Append" or "Add cases" or "Add observations" as suggested by dak...
