Yes, my u.yaml file has the compilerMode set to tame. My guess is that I don't add enough functionality so it just deletes my update method.

there's something here not quite adding up ... if you can commit your work somewhere, and provide steps to reproduce the "deletion of the update method even when the compilerMode is tame" issue, we can take a look.
