Yes, that makes sense.
Since you updated snowIRT and re-downloaded the module, the issue was most likely caused by the previous version still being used in the earlier analysis. After updating, the internal logic was refreshed, which is why the distractor analysis now works correctly.

So it looks like the problem is resolved 👍
Thanks for checking and for the update!

Hi Seol,

Oh I wish I could say that the problem is resolved, but I did the analysis again and unfortunately I still get the same error :-(

Hi
Thanks for your report — this is not a bug in your data or in jamovi.

The distractor analysis divides examinees into three score groups
(high / middle / low). In some datasets, many respondents end up with
exactly the same total score, which makes it impossible to form
distinct groups. It’s expected behavior, not an error.

Hi Elvire,

Thank you for your patience. I’d like to clarify that this behavior is expected and not caused by an issue with your data or with jamovi itself. The distractor analysis divides respondents into three score groups (lower, middle, upper), and when many participants receive the same total score, it becomes impossible to form distinct groups. In such cases, the analysis previously resulted in an error.

To address this, I’ve updated the module so that when this situation occurs, group-based distractor tables and plots are automatically skipped, while counts and proportions are still shown using total frequencies. A clear message is now displayed explaining why the group-based outputs are not available. This avoids misleading results and ensures the analysis continues safely.

The updated version will be available in the jamovi library early next week (around Monday). Please update to the latest version once it is released, and the issue should no longer occur.

Best regards,
Seol

Hi Seol,

I have just read your message, for we've had issues with the network and I have other tasks as well, so I cannot fully focus on Jamovi only. I will install the updated version!
A great many thanks again!
