I would like to be able to save a plot (ggplot) using the ggsave function from a module menu. Is this possible?

The background is that I would like to be able to decide the file format and size of the plot in the menu (not by clicking export). The size of the figure is, as per my understanding, not available for user editing.

no sorry, there's no feature like that at this time.
