Filters not refreshing report

Hi,
Is there a way to get the report to be refreshed in real time based on a filter?
Ie.: first row is called "select"
filter 1 = select==1
In order to add a 1 to every case that needs to be taken into account and remove it to exclude a case.
Right now, entering a 1 greys out the case but it doesn't refresh the report. I need to disable the filter and re-enable it for the report to update itself based on the filtered cases, which lead to a confusing situation where you get greyed out column but an out-of-date report until you disable and re-enable the filter.
