Special Import for jamovi files

Hello,
I am teaching currently intro stats to undergrads using jamovi. I am providing them with jamovi datasets with the variable properties already set up (missing values in particular). If a student opens the dataset with the "Special Import" command for .omv files, these missing values and other variable properties disappear. It looks like the "Open" command is their only option to retain the variable properties. This is very confusing for students given that "Special Import" function clearly lists the ".omv" extension option.
My main question is whether or not this feature is intentional or a bug in the current version. This is my first time using jamovi to teach and other than this feature and the bar plot labels (which are comically awful), everything seems to be working well.
Thanks for any input.
Chris
