Can't import Data from CSV File: Line contains NULL Bytes

Hi, I am trying to load Data from my Online Survey into jamovi, using a testcase with none missings.
I am able to open the CSV File in Excel and it does show me the correct Data.
However in jamovi -> File -> Open -> Browse, the jamovi package gives me the following error:
"Unable to open test.csv
line contains NULL Byte"
I've searched the forum, but wasn't able to find a proper solution.
Can one of you help me?

could you create an issue over on our issues page, and attach a data file with this issue?

the .csv file format is *very* loosely defined, so it is a challenge to come up with an import process which will handle everything, but we'll get there.

Hi thanks for your reply.
I've now registered with Git hub and Uploaded the file aswell (as zip archive since csv is not allowed by git hub)
However which is the most supported file format for importing in jamovi? Maybe I could convert the file, or even just download it in another configuration? Soscisurvey delivers many export file types.

hi,
the issue here is the the file is UTF-16 CSV file. can it be saved as UTF-8 CSV file?
i'll see about adding UTF-16 support in a future release.

Great job, thanks a lot.
Quick question, is there a possibility to update the Jamovi Package on a Windows machine from the GUI?
My search for a solution online didn't brought up any answers to this question.

hi,
no, there's no way to automatically update jamovi from inside itself ... not yet, anyway.
you have to download the new version from the website each time.
hopefully this is something we can improve in future.
