so there's this description of what jamovi means from damo from back in 2017:

when people ask me "why jamovi?" i always tell them that all the good names were taken (seriously! it is so hard to come up with a name which isn't already in use! it took us *months*)

finally, if you take a look at the core developer's names, you may find a connection to 'jamovi' in there.
